What do we do?

About Us

John started his career in restaurants at the ripe old age of 14 in Portland, Oregon. An affinity for Math, Science, and Skiing led him to the Engineering school at the University of Colorado in Boulder. There he studied Aerospace, Chemical, Mechanical, and Architectural Engineering. With a Head for Figures and a Heart for Hospitality, he chose to follow his heart. John found a home in the then very young, BigRedF Restaurant Group in 1995 and wore almost every hat eventually taking on the Director of Operations role. He lead the company until it became a group of 8 restaurants and some 400 employees. As the company continued to grow and evolve, John took on roles focused on development, design, and construction management, guiding the next 5 restaurants, including 2 brewpubs to their completion and successful launch. With KICKER, he hopes to use knowledge and skills developed over 35 years in the industry to help small business owners avoid pitfalls, and accelerate reaching their goals, through creating shared vision, purpose, and values, empowering their teams.

Originally from the East Coast, Rachel moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1997 after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts & a minor in Corporate Communications from Ithaca College. She immediately became a part of the vibrant culinary scene, managing some of Boulder's best restaurants. First at Zolo Grill for 4 years then Jax Fish House for 4 years. She took a short break to start a family and came back to the industry in 2012, working for Mable & Chung Consulting. Her focus was on Marketing and Sales for the Big Red F Restaurant Group. In 2018 Rachel started Kicker Consulting and played a key part in growing Sugar Pine Catering in Longmont focusing on Marketing Strategies, Sales & Brand Building. She loves being around food, hanging with her family and being outdoors whenever possible.
